Broadsheet simulates old newspaper text from the 1700s, chiefly from two specimens: an original copy of The New-England Weekly Journal, published in Boston on April 8, 1728, and a commemorative reprint of the Massachusetts Sun, published in Worcester, Mass., on May 3, 1775 (including an account of the Battles of Lexington and Concord).

Broadsheet is somewhat dark and lumpy, in keeping with print jobs of the period. Works surprisingly well in long text blocks or in display situations to suggest historical printed matter. Broadsheet has two styles, a roman and a true italic, each with a full complement of “long s” and other ligatures, along with true small caps, old-style and lining figures, and a few printer’s flourishes. Has full support for Central/Eastern European languages.
